Andrea Szelényi is neurologist and Professor of Intraoperative and Clinical Neurophysiology at the Neurosurgical Clinic of the University Hospital Duesseldorf in Germany.
Dr. Szelényi has specialized in Intraoperative Neurophysiology and has been practicingsince 1997. She performed a fellowship in Intraoperative Neurophysiology with Prof. V. Deletis at the Beth Israel Medical Center, New York, USA and has established units for Intraoperative and Clinical Neurophysiology at the Neurosurgical Departments of the University Clinic in Leipzig and the University Hospital of the Wolfgang Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main, Germany and lately at University Clinic in Duesseldorf since 2012.
Her primary research areas are on motor system using systematic clinical studies of Motor Evoked Potentials (MEPs) for intra-operative neuromonitoring focusing on application of MEPs in vascular neurosurgery and the effect of stimulation parameters in tumor surgery. Her work has earned her the 1st Excellence in Research Award of the ASNM in May 2007.
In the area of Intraoperative Neurophysiology she has organized national educational courses and participates in international training courses. Currently she is serving as President-elect of the International Society of Intraoperative Neurophysiology (ISIN). She has published more than 40 scientific articles listed in MEDLINE, articles and book chapters.
