Biographical sketch David B. MacDonald, MD, FRCP(C), ABCN
Dr. David MacDonald is a Canadian Neurologist and Neurophysiologist who trained in Neurology at Dalhousie University and in Neurophysiology at the MAYO Clinic.
From 1990 to 1999, he Directed EEG and the Seizure Investigation Unit and developed an Intraoperative Monitoring (IOM) program at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
He moved to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 2000 to head the Section ofClinical Neurophysiology at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center and developed an IOM program there as well. He has over 3400 cases of IOM experience including epilepsy, other neurosurgical, orthopedic, aortic, ENT and vascular surgeries.
He was first President-elect and second President of the International Society of Intraoperative Neurophysiology and is an author and frequently invited speaker in the field. His main academic interests include IOM methodology, safety and guideline development as well as EEG, epilepsy and epilepsy surgery.
